He studied for two years under Ferenczy Károly at the Academy of Fine Arts, later joining the Hungarian activist movement and working in the spirit of the artists around the journal MA. His religious expressionism and cubist formal language brought his art to prominence in the 1910s and 1920s, while his later style was influenced by Bernáth Aurél.
